Are machines replacing people as servers and is human emotion communicated by a machine.

Will self-serve beer machines render bartenders obsolete?
Is this legal and is it responsible service
Is the Duty of care met by robots?
Is alcohol service control responsibly.
Owners can make more money by less waste on employee time and lost product with a  growing number of Taprooms going to installing self-serve beer systems. This will enable drinkers to pour their own tap beer. Are vendors going to have a breathalyzer and drug tests by robots before you get to served yourself beers?  What are the hidden risks that may occur?

How are you going to charge a vending the machine with the crime of illegal alcohol service to a minor?  Will your next draft beer be pulled by yourself?  Are you over the age of 21 and old enough to serve yourself?

Is the id a valid id that the patron used and is it actually you. You may some safe serving systems controls to prevent possibly illegal sales. Can machines deal with patrons human emotions? Remember that 65% percent of human communication are non-verbal. Lack of patron communication can create a greater danger for alcohol overservice.  The patrons who like machines are going to be lonely when they try to communicate to the machine.  Who is going to recheck the drinkers levels of possible impairment during the time of alcohol service?

The licensed establishment is by law not allowed to sell beer to obviously intoxicated patrons which can create criminal and civil, and administrative legal liability.  Note 50% of men and 71% of women pregame before going out on the night entertainment. Pre-gaming drinking with the lack of staff timing checks of the server may be needed. The patrons have to be aware of the very dangerous serving of high ABV beers that can be as high as 30 to 40 proof beers.  The opportunity of alcohol risk is controlled through human interpretations, communication, and observation. Remember most robots are not good at non-verbal communication. Thanks Bob

LOS ANGELES -- Your next draft might be pulled not by a bartender -- but by you. A small but growing number of gastropubs and fast-casual restaurants are going self-serve, installing systems that enable drinkers to draw their own taps, similar to the soda fountain at McDonald's but far more sophisticated.
